Getting in shape is empowering! And while there might be a sore muscle or two along the way, it can be a really enjoyable journey that anyone can achieve, regardless of her/his starting point. A lot of exercise programs are intimidating, making them inaccessible to beginners. Humanus Fitness instead focuses on connecting people to attainable fitness goals that will ultimately improve health. Finding the fun side of fitness and adapting training programs to a clients' needs, pace, and desires is what Humanus Fitness is truly about.
My name is Francis Grijalva. I am a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach in Washington, DC. I have more than 7 years of experience in the fields of personal training, wellness, and overall fitness. I have experience in everything from training athletes (a university track team) as well as personal trainers to helping those new to working out adopt an appropriate (and fun) fitness regimen.
I specialize in beginner workouts, injury rehabilitation, in-home training, kettlebell training, mobility and balance, and strength and conditioning. I love what I do and am always excited to help improve a client's overall health and outlook on fitness. My focus is on tailoring a fitness program to a client's goals and needs, while teaching the fundamentals of fitness, demonstrating proper technique, and keeping the workouts exciting.

Each person is different. My technique is to develop a program based on your goals and needs that will help burn calories, boost metabolism, and improve your overall health. A combination of strategic exercises and health assessments will have you in tip-top shape.

This program is for those clients who would like an online-trainer. Clients can choose the best time and place to complete their tailored workouts.

I have been working with Francis while I recover from knee surgery and he is fantastic! I have a yoga mat and a few dumbbells, but he provides the rest of the equipment. We do the workouts in my small basement, but space is never an issue. I get a full body workout that is gentle on my knee, but leaves the rest of me feeling just sore enough I know I’m building strength. I especially love seeing the definition in my abs and arms.
